She was the character Karen Walker in the NBC comedy Will & Grace (1998)-2006, 2017. 2020). For this role she was nominated for 8 Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Supporting Actress in the field of a Comedy Series. In 2000 and 2006, she was awarded twice.
